In the world of large luxury SUVs, two perennial competitors reign supreme. This year’s Audi Q7 vs. Mercedes-Benz GLS match-up is as close as ever, but the 2021 GLS still offers more impressive performance specs, a more spacious interior, and more of the luxuries that Phoenix-area drivers demand. Ready to find out exactly what we mean? All you have to do is read on.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS gives you the option to seat either seven passengers as standard, or six passengers with optional second-row captain’s chairs. The Q7 always seats seven, but that doesn’t mean it has an advantage. In fact, the GLS is more accommodating across all three rows, no matter how you look at the numbers:

According to the experts at Car & Driver, the third row of the Audi Q7 is “only for kids.” Five extra inches of rear legroom makes a world of difference in the GLS interior; your passengers will thank you if you opt for the Mercedes-Benz! Plus, you’ll have almost 15 extra cubic feet of cargo space at your disposal.
Drivers who want to bring home an Audi Q7 will have to choose between the standard 248-hp I4 engine or the available 335-hp upgrade. Neither option will be entirely satisfying for those who are familiar with the GLS lineup. After all, the large Mercedes-Benz SUV delivers 362 hp as standard! What’s more, you can upgrade with engines delivering up to 483 or even 603 horsepower. Last but not least, we should note that the GLS comes standard with a 9G-TRONIC® 9-speed automatic transmission and standard air suspension. The Q7 falls short on both fronts, with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission and coil springs.
There are plenty of large luxury SUVs on the market today, but there’s only one Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV. Now that you’ve had the chance to compare the Audi Q7 vs. Mercedes-Benz GLS in detail, continue your research by scheduling a test drive at our dealership! In fact, if you’re located near Gilbert or %%target_ity_3%%, it’s even easier to shop for your next SUV online! We’d love to show you how.
