Mercedes-Benz GLS Dimensions: Seating and Cargo Space
We’re still waiting on the final 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS dimensions, but we already have a pretty good idea of where the specs will land.
What has our Gilbert and Tempe neighbors so excited? The 2020 GLS has had its wheelbase increased by 2.4 inches, and in the world of luxury automobiles, a change like that can go a very long way. This year’s model will provide significantly more room to spread out.
- Headroom (1st Row) – 41.4 inches
- Headroom (2nd Row) – 40.2 inches
- Shoulder Room (1st Row) – 59.3 inches
- Shoulder Room (2nd Row) – 58.5 inches
- Legroom (1st Row) – At least 40.3 inches
- Legroom (2nd Row) – 41.9 inches when in rearmost position
In a recent press release, Mercedes-Benz stated that the GLS third row will also be roomier than ever before. In 2019, the GLS SUV offers 35 inches of legroom and 50.5 inches of shoulder room. Although the precise 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS dimensions have yet to arrive, the new third row is supposed to be suitable for passengers of 6’4’’ in height. Explore the Mercedes-Benz GLS pricing if you’d like to get a better sense of what you’ll find inside.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Exterior Dimensions
Expanding the wheelbase required the Mercedes-Benz engineers to make significant changes to the GLS exterior. Most impressively, these changes have resulted in a much-improved drag coefficient, down to 0.32 from 0.35.
If you’re wondering how the new model will fit in your garage, you’ll want to keep these dimensions in mind:
- 205.2 inches from bumper to bumper
- 123.4 inches from front wheels to back wheels
- 77 inches wide and 71.8 inches tall
- Front track width of 65.7 inches
- Rear track width of 66.6 inches
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS weight is still not known. However, we expect the larger 2020 model to be slightly heavier than 5,335 pounds, up from the curb weight of the 2019 model.
